A Decade by Decade Beauty Guide:

Embrace your beauty at every age

Is ageing inevitable?

You might be surprised to learn that only 20-30% of ageing is intrinsic, i.e. determined by genetic factors. This means that 70-80% of ageing is extrinsic: caused by environmental factors such as sun exposure, pollution, smoking, and lifestyle choices and therefore preventable! We no longer need to age like our parents or grandparents.

With modern skincare and with a little help from aesthetic treatments, there can be a huge difference between a person’s chronological age and biological age. Someone in their 50s can look as though they’re in their 30s. Of course, the opposite is also true; we may be 45 chronologically, but biologically, our cellular ageing may mean we look 55.

Ageing gracefully is about enhancing your natural beauty and feeling confident at every stage of life.

  • Focus: Prevention

Prevention is crucial during this phase of your life. If you didn’t have good habits in your teens, now is the time to start. This means establishing an effective medical grade skincare routine & always remove your makeup before bed!

Up to 90% of visible ageing is caused by UV damage, so broad spectrum sunscreen is the most essential part of your daily skin care regimen. The body and skin show little change in our twenties, but external factors such as sun exposure, alcohol consumption, poor dietary habits and smoking can have adverse effects on skin in later life. If you prevent damage and protect your skin while in your twenties, your future self will thank you!

    Suggested Treatments:

    • Skincare: get the basics right – cleanser, exfoliator, moisturiser, daily SPF

    • Botox: prevent the early formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

    • Lip filler: plump and augment for kissable lips

    • Chemical Peels: perfect skin texture and tone

  • Focus: Early Correction and Enhancement

Between our jobs, busy lifestyles and starting a family, the ageing process can begin to show in our thirties. Permanent fine lines appear around the eyes and mouth, along with early volume loss.

    Suggested Treatments:

    • Skincare: introduce active ingredients such as peptides & vitamin C. Include an eye cream

    • Dermal Fillers: replace early lost volume and airbrush out fine lines

    • Botox: prevent lines becoming ingrained

    • Chemical Peels: revitalise tired skin

  • Focus: Collagen banking and Restoring Volume

As we enter our 40s, visible differences continue as we lose facial volume and our skin begins to lose elasticity. This leads to flattened cheeks, sagging around the jowls, and permanent lines & wrinkles. Undereye skin becomes crepey, while eyebags and hollows appear. These are our perimenopausal years, so we need to bank as much collagen as possible before menopause hits. Skin cells take longer to come to the surface, so increasing cellular turnover and stimulating collagen production is vital to promote healthier, more youthful looking skin.

    Suggested Treatments:

    • Skincare: introduce tretinoin to boost collagen & cellular turnover

    • Chemical Peels: improve skin texture & glow

    • Fillers: replace lost volume & soften lines & wrinkles

    • Skinboosters: hydrate & smooth crepey skin

    • Polynucleotides: rebuild the structure of your skin

    • Microneedling: replace rapidly depleting collagen

    • Botox: keep permanent frown lines at bay

  • Focus: Enhancing Natural Beauty and Comfort

After 50, the skin’s ability to retain moisture and heal properly is significantly reduced as the body experiences hormonal change. Loss of oestrogen means we lose around 30% of our collagen around the time of menopause. This leads to thinner skin and a rapid acceleration in visible ageing, dry, itchy skin, sensitivity & rosacea

    Suggested Treatments:

    • Skincare: switch to richly hydrating products that support & repair the skin barrier

    • Fillers: restore youthful contours gently & naturally, soften lines

    • Skinboosters: smooth crepey skin

    • Microneedling: help restore skin thickness

    • Botox: to lift the brows & open the eyes

    • Chemical Peels: enhance overall skin texture & tone, reduce age spots

How it all works:

  • New patients book a 30 min consultation. It can either be with a view to botox/lip fillers specifically, or more general if you'd like a full face assessment.

We can generally carry out shorter treatments at your initial consultation appointment, provided you're suitable and we're both happy to proceed. Equally if you'd rather go away and think about it, we can carry out the treatment at a separate appointment.

If you've booked a general consultation for treatment planning, our time is spent discussing your concerns & giving you treatment options. You would then go home to consider your options & book accordingly.

  • We always work at your pace, according to your budget and what treatments you feel comfortable with.

  • We will discuss how best to maintain your results, whether it be regular treatments every few months, or once-in-a while visits! We'll also advise which medical grade homecare products will prolong your in-clinic treatments
