We’ve all been loving the recent sunshine right? Sunny days lift my mood and have certainly been helping me through this lockdown.⁣

However sun damage from UVA and UVB rays is responsible for 90% of skin ageing. Chronic exposure to these rays leads to destruction of the skins elastic fibres leading to deep lines and wrinkles .⁣

This photo is of a 69 yr old American truck driver shows what 28years of sun damage can do to your skin. The left side of his face, where the sun was shining through the window, shows severe photo damage while the right side is relatively unharmed.⁣

Although injectable aesthetic treatments such as Botox and fillers, can treat and repair the skin to an extent, they are not a magic wand therefore it is much better to prevent damage in the first place.⁣

in summary, always wear an effective broad spectrum mineral sunscreen which protects against UVA and UVB rays, even in the winter and even indoors!⁣

Here at Fresh Aesthetics in Portadown, I stock AlumierMD mineral sunscreens, tinted and untinted, suitable for different skin types. DM me if you’d like some delivered to your door.⁣
